Via a Google search on a part of the text ("there will be people in our party the number of peopel in our pert will”) I found your site which is very useful and cleared all my doubts.

I hope you can use this information to block the activities of these people.

Let me try to explain further what the character and the atmosphere of Cortíjo La Houseare:

A Houseis originally a farmhouse. It lies in the “Campo”, on the land, outside the village. La Houseis situated on an area of approximately 3300 square meters, a bit less than one acre, on a hillside outside Town, at about 5 minutes drive by car, and a twenty minutes walk. The access road only leads to our property and that of three or four farmhouses around it. It is partly sealed, and for the last few hundred metres unsealed.

In this part of Spain the farmers do not live on their land but in the village. Therefore it is absolutely quiet and the only people you will see are the farmers working on their land. The area lies within a Natural Park, which surrounds the National ark of the Sierra Nevada. In a Natural park building is not allowed outside the villages, so the inhabitable properties are renovated farmhouses.

La Housewas reconstructed about fifteen years ago and was modernised and extended three years ago, but it has still much of the character of the original place. There is however no connection to the electrical mains system, a gas mains nor water mains. Electricity is provided by solar cells in combination with a modern electrically started silenced 3 KVA Honda generator that runs on petrol. A sophisticated electronic unit can make 230 Volts AC from the batteries so you only have to run the generator for a few hours per day, mainly when the swimming pool pump is running.

Propane gas is in tanks in a gas shed that complies with all regulations. Heating is by central heating in the living room and in the upstairs main bedroom. In that bedroom floor heating is also installed. The living room is equipped with a nice wood stove that is very cosy and effective in heating in the chilly evening that you may have early October.

Water comes from our own well on the land and is beautifully tasting mountain spring water. (Of course it is up to you to decide if you prefer to stick to drinking bottled water). As Spain is experiencing a terrible drought for the last ten years or so, we are keeping a close look at our water supply. We ask our guests to be very careful if there are signs that the supply is low.

The terrain around the Cortíjo consists of meadows, a garden, and a small orchard. In the period you will be staying there will be prunes, apples, pears, blackberries, walnuts and above all almonds. In fact we are a bit jealous because we will miss all that ourselves!

Some more practical things: there is no dishwasher. There is a washing machine, but it can only be used for cold washes as the heating element is too powerful for our generator. Actually for our guests that only stay a week or two it is not available, but for you is it, but we advise you not to use it and have your laundry done by our cleaning lady.

There is no telephone connection, normally we use our cell phones, with a Spanish phone card (SIM card), and there is coverage on our property.

There is no television. Technically it might be possible to install a wireless or satellite link, but we think television is not really missed by our guests, who come here for the quietness and the nature.

So as we state on our website: don’t expect a luxurious holiday mansion but enjoy the advantages of the quiet countryside, where you can be completely on your own.
