Lullington House was built in 1866 as the rectory for the villages of Lullington and Orchardleigh. The house was used for this purpose up until 1955, after which time it became a private residence and it has been our family home since 1959. The building is a fine example of Victorian architecture, designed by George Devey and meticulously built to a high standard by very skilled craftsman of the day.
The house stands in ten acres of its own grounds, of which approximately one and a half acres is well maintained formal and woodland garden, the remainder being paddocks, orchard and woodland. The large diversity of trees, plants, and shrubs provides a wonderful habitat for an abundance of birds and wildlife, alot of which can be seen from the comfort of your bedroom. For the walkers amongst you, the Macmillan Way passes through the centre of the village. More walks can be found in Orchardleigh Estate with its twenty-three acre lake, which is home to a large variety of aquatic birds and other wildlife. A boathouse can be seen at the near end and at the far, picturesque church is found standing on its own island. Back in our garden, you could take a brief stroll around our private wood. The village centre is only a few yards away, which comprises of the School House now a private home, Lullington Church which is famous for its Norman doorway and two farms. A handful of other houses and some thatched cottages all surround the village green and well.
