There are plenty of beautiful walks and cycle routes nearby. The house is away from the main road, but the village shop and pub and the impressive Norman church of St. Mary Magdalene are all just a stone's throw away. Copper Beeches is bordered by the river Chew, which springs from the hillside nearby and flows through the village and out towards the Chew Valley and Blagdon lakes, where there is good trout fishing from March to October. To find Copper Beeches, from Bristol take the A39 towards Wells. When you reach the village of Chewton Mendip come down the hill and at the bottom take the turning on the right to West Harptree (B3114). Copper Beeches is the second drive on the right.
