The Cove House  

Perched at the edge of a bluff overlooking some of the most spectacular coastline in Northern California, Cove House is that rare vacation rental that feels more like a home.

The 2 bedroom/1 bath house has a light and airy feel, with white-washed wood beamed ceilings and comfortable cottage-style furnishings. The small, oceanside bedroom has a direct ocean view; the larger back bedroom, paneled in knotty pine, has the feel of an old cabin.

A living area with entertainment center leads to a sunken reading room and a large deck with hot tub. Both the living areas and deck offer stunning whitewater views of cliffs, a rocky cove and offshore islands. The kitchen is well-appointed, but has no dishwasher (house is on a septic system). The house is stocked with books, board
games, and a collection of tapes and DVDs.

Cove House sits on a fenced acre and a half. Our private seaside meadow is ideal for croquet and horseshoes (both provided). Or curl up in an Adirondack chair with a good book, some wine and cheese, and the surf lapping in the cove below. A path leads from the house down to the cove, where you'll enjoy hunting for starfish, sea urchins, and other tidepool inhabitants.

Local Area Attractions: Cove House is located in Gualala, CA, a breathtaking 3 hour drive north of San Francisco. Gualala sits in the heart of the North Coast's "banana belt," and enjoys sun and mild temperatures much of the year -- along with the occasional whopping coastal storm! Local activities include golf, kayaking, horseback riding, wine tasting, tidepooling, abalone diving and spa treatments. The world-renowned Sea Ranch golf course is located just ten minutes south of Cove House and is open to the public. Kayak and diving equipment rentals are available in town. The Point Arena Cinema, a 20-minute drive north, is a lovingly-restored vintage movie house showing first-run films. The drive up the coast to Mendocino (1 hour north) makes for a wonderful day trip. Food lovers will want to try Pangaea (California Fusion), St. Orres (specializing in game) and the Redwood Grill. Three markets within a few minutes of Cove House offer an excellent selection of fresh seafood, meats, organic foods and gourmet take-out.
