The ancient craft of barrel making can be seen on a visit to the nearby cooperage. For relaxation there are beautiful walks along the Dullan water to the Giant's Chair rock formation, where many varieties of wildlife can be seen. For the more energetic walker there is the Speyside Way, covering over 45 miles from the mouth of the river at the coast of the Moray Firth through some spectacular scenery to Tomintoul, the highest village in Scotland. Take the path to the top of Ben Rinnes, the highest peak in the area. At almost 2000 feet, it affords wonderful views of the Northern hills in Sutherland, the fertile lands of Moray and the Moray Firth and the Cairngorms, reputed to be one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. The mountains are about half an hours drive and the coast is the same. Sporting Facilities (in and around Dufftown) include Clay Pigeon Shooting, Tennis, Walking, Horse Riding, River Fishing and finally Golfing at Dufftown Golf Club which has reputedly got the highest hole in Britain at over 1000 feet above sea level.
