Local Area
Attractions: The seafront is recognised as an outstanding ecological attraction. Penguins, seals, sea-lions and many birds can be seen on a walk around the cliffs and beach at low tide, and blue penguin viewing is also possible at dusk in a seated enclosure where they come ashore.
Gleaming, ornate white stone buildings form a unique streetscape dating from times of grand, Victorian optimism. The town has a hinterland of rivers, lakes mountains and rolling farmland of astonishing diversity in a compact area. |
