Lakeside cottages and rural retreat on one of Australia's most historic farms in a spectacular natural setting. Experience life on our beef cattle and sheep station (farm) and soak up the peace and tranquillity of Lake Alexandrina, Australia's largest freshwater lake. Our guests stay in very comfortable, private and well-appointed self contained cottages which sleep up to 4, 5 or 8 persons. Ideal for both couples and families with wood fires in winter, king and queen beds and private sunny verandahs. You can enjoy canoeing and a rowboat, swimming, tennis, bushwalks, farm walks, feeding farm animals and kangaroos and the jetty area. Poltalloch Station has extensive wetlands for some of the best bird watching opportunties in South Australia. Each of the 22 historic buildings tells a story, including the shearing shed, jetty house, barn and stables, the grand Victorian homestead and the little Point Malcolm lighthouse. A unique Australian outback country experience full of things to do, or you can choose to just relax, watch the sunset over the waters of the lake and escape the rush of everyday life. We look forward to welcoming you to Poltalloch Station. |
