Nestled in 1 ½ acres of manicured gardens, award winning Pen-y-bryn Lodge (1889) is appointed with superb antique furnishings, coupled with the amenities and comforts expected by today's discerning traveller. Pen-y-bryn is the largest single storied timber dwelling in the South Island and boasts handcrafted floor to ceiling fireplaces, richly carved bookcases, unique ornate leaded glass doors and windows.

Driving Directions: Exit State Highway 1 on teh southern boundary of Oamaru- Kakanui exit. It is then a quick dogleg left and then immediate right into Towey Street. Pen-y-bryn Lodge is at the top of the hill on the left.

Local Area Attractions: Local attractions: Both Yellow and Little Blue Penguins parade each evening less than 5 minutes from the Lodge. A variety of activities include: salmon and trout fishing, ancient Maori rock art, fossil trails, Moeraki Boulders, golf courses, eco and geological tours and scenic flights and Heli flights to Mt Cook and Mt Aspiring.
