la Roseraie de Vrigny  

La Roseraie de Vrigny is normally tolet as a gite (see website for details and availability)but during the winter and spring when the owners are in residence bed and breakfast is offered, with dinner (continental cuisine)with the family if requested in advance. The house, which is warm and cosy with full central heating, is an excellent and very central base for exploring the chateaux of the Loire and other attractions of this beautiful part of the world, not the least of which is the excellent wine! St. Georges sur Cher alone has more than 30 wine-producers, the nearest to la Roseraie being just a few hundred metres away. The house is set in a large, mature partially walled garden in the English taste, with lawns carpeted in daffodils in Spring, followed by the early rambling roses and the apple and pear blossom in the orchard. A stream divides the garden from a large tree-lined meadow which guarantees the seclusion of the property.

The accommodation for bed and breakfast consists of two airy and spacious rooms, la chambre bleue with mementoes of Admiral Lord Nelson, and la chambre rose, decorated with roses and with a beautiful view over the orchard, the stream and the meadow beyond. Both rooms have a double and a single bed and each has its own private bathroom. The elegant salon, with comfortable sofa and armchairs, is available for the use of guests.

Driving Directions: La Roseraie is situated in the hamlet of Vrigny, the first house on the left in the rue du Ruisseau, which is the first turning on the left in the Route des Couldraies, 1 km from the centre of St. Georges sur Cher travelling towards Tours.

Local Area Attractions: Chateaux of Chenonceaux (4 km), Amboise (connections with Leonardo da Vinci) Blois, Chaumont, etc., The Aquarium de Touraine, one of the finestin Europe, the Zoo Park of Beauval, the Cathedral, museums and old town of Tours and a little further away the magnificent chateau and gardens of Villandry.

Onsite Activities: cycle hire available locally, excellent walking country.

Seasonal Info: La Roseraie is open all year: in summer as a self-catering gite for up to 6 people, and in Autumn and Winter for bed and breakfast. Avoid the crowds by visiting out of season!
