Solmundson Gesta Hus  

"The Solmundson Gesta Hus has been in operation since 1987 when the house was completely renovated and modernized. The guest house combines European style bed and breakfast accomodations with North American conveniences. It is situated on 43 acres of private property within Hecla Provincial Park, and is located next to the Church at the north end of the village. Guests share the living room, dining room, verandah and gazebo and are encouraged to socialize with the hosts and other guests. You can enjoy the peace and quiet, gaze at the stars, watch the birds at the feeders, and enjoy the perennial gardens and fruit trees. A full breakfast is included in the price of the room and in true Icelandic style the coffee pot is always on. Dinner is available to registered guests and conists of a home cooked meal with as many fresh from the garden ingredients as possible. Since the hosts are commercial fishers, the house specialty is fresh Pickeral (walleye). Bring your fishing equipment, bathing suits, golf clubs, hiking boots in summer and your cross country skis and toboggans in the winter. Consult with your hosts to ensure you enjoy all the facilities of the park. We are accessable year round via Highway #8 and a modern causeway. "
