"""Comfortable elegance may be an over-used phrase, but the description suits Annfield Manor so well it bears repeating.""
Cape Breton Post, May 11, 1999. Let yourself enjoy the finest in Cape Breton hospitality, comfort and great food. A stately manor house, centrally located, assuring all visitors the finest in comfort and elegance while only minutes drive to all island attractions. A stately Bras d'Or home, built in 1893 by Bras d'Or Coal Company owner George Burchell and named after Annfield Plane, in England. The Burchell Estate has been fully restored as an English style Country Inn now run by Mark and Lisa Teeter complete with four dining areas, one in which was the original conservatory surrounded by windows on three sides. The home's Grand Foyer features the original terra cotta tile floors, and is large enough to accommodate a Chickering Grand Piano, dating back to 1863, and also houses one of the first elevators installed in Nova Scotia. The home has four original fireplaces, which guests can enjoy while having dinner or relaxing in one of our elegant guest rooms. All guest rooms have been renovated, while original tiles and fixtures have been restored. The third floor features a very unique, large bedroom, originally a school room, complete with original port hole windows. The top floor of Annfield, is an enclosed widow's walk and boasts a spectacular view. Mr. Burchell was known to sit here and watch his coal boats moving up and down the Bras d' Or Lakes. The Inn now completely furnished with fine antiques, sits on 4.5 acres, and is open year round for accommodations and dining."
