In 1842, a Georgian-style Coaching Inn was built along-side the Nine Mile River in the hamlet of Port Albert. Much of the Inn remains original including the cherry wood bar in the pub. The north-bound highway (#21) once passed the front door of the Inn, carrying many weary, hungry travelers to the Queen's Bush Settlement. The Inn has served the public in many different capacities...at times as a store, post office, speak-easy....always ready to provide a bed, along with food and drink to the travelling public. Port Albert is a tiny friendly lakeside hamlet nestled up against the ocean-like Lake Huron in one of the prettiest river valleys in Ontario. The Inn at the Port has 7 guestrooms to let all year around. Each room has individual heat control and ceiling fan. The guest lounges and most rooms are equipped with satellite TV. Guests are treated to a full home-cooked breakfast of their choice. |
