The Verandahs  

"We are near everything you need for a great vacation or just a weekend getaway. A sandy beach and boat launch are just steps away on Lake Simcoe and a short drive takes you to fine dining, summer theatre, golf, mountain biking, shopping, boat cruises, historic sites, wildlife areas and great scenery. Breakfast at The Verandahs is a special affair. Served in the dining room or, if conditions permit, on the verandahs, you can watch the bird feeders while you are serenaded by soft music as you eat. The meal begins with fresh fruit or, perhaps, a fruit compote or homemade apple sauce from the trees on our property. You may have a choice of homemade muffins, rolls or sticky buns. Coffee is freshly brewed, and regular or herbal teas are available. Your main course could be Henry's homemade omelettes, waffles or pancakes served with fruit and local maple syrup or it might be french toast, eggs benedict or egg strata casserole made with farm fresh eggs. With advanced notice, Henry will cater to special dietary needs of diabetics, vegetarians, etc. Of course, the Verandah's famous ""Porridge Bread"" is always available. Our cozy guest sitting room features a wood-burning fireplace, TV / VCR and many games for our guests' pleasure. Our guests come from around the world and we enjoy talking with them and exchanging travel stories. Coffee, tea and other beverages, along with cookies are available for snacks at the upstairs buffet whenever you like. We look forward to having you stay with us and guarantee that you will have a memorable time. Our house sits amid wide lawns and is surrounded by flower beds. Our numerous bird houses are always occupied and there seems to be a waiting list! The trees also contain many nests and our birdbath and feeders are well used. Our summer guests always enjoy a quiet afternoon on the verandahs, cooled by the lake breezes and serenaded by bird songs. Comfortable chairs and lounges are provided and many of our guests have found it difficult to leave to enjoy the numerous attractions of the area. A Winter visit to The Verandahs will put you in the centre of numerous activities including ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country and downhill skiing as well as numerous winter carnivals hosted by the communities in the area."
