Since we have more than 3 guest rooms, we must acquire a Lodging House License. Therefore, we are inspected & approved by Calgary's Fire Dept., Police Service & Regional Health Authority. All licensed B & B's must display their Calgary City License. Westways is a Heritage residence that radiates arts and craft ambiance complete with box beam ceilings, magnificent built-in china display cabinets, leaded glass windows & hardwood floors. It is decorated with many framed reproductions, original oil paintings, antiques & ornaments.
The guests' bedrooms are on the 2nd or 3rd floor & each guest room has a private bathroom. Our exceptional guest lodgings provide more amenities in the guests' bedrooms than any other B & B in Calgary. Direct dial telephone with voice mail, Desk, TV/VCR with digital cable box providing over 100 channels (including free movie channels), broad band internet, compact entertainment centre, hair dryer, iron & ironing board, pillow-top deep mattresses plus robes. Calgary Westways has an annual evaluation that conducted by trained AAA/CAA inspector in a consistent, universal high standard. Canada Select properties may have just one room and that B&B may be rated 4 stars. It is easier for a B&B with one guest room to have a high star rating than a B&B with 4 or more guest bedrooms. This Canadian rating organization for the hospitality industry is very popular with the B & B industry as there is not a minimum number requirement for guest bedrooms. Inspections are conducted once every two years & are provided by a provincial association. Here in Alberta it is the Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association, which has the responsibility to provide evaluations for the Canada Select program. Western Canada Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers Association - Again I am proud to be a member of this association with its high standards requirements for membership [minimum of Canada Select 3 stars]. Through it's Quality Assured Program assisting members through inspection to maintain an excellent B & B and hospitality. All members have to be Food Safe Certified and their B & B's are inspected. Majority of the membership are located in British Columbia & their web site is excellent for locating exceptional B & B's in Western Canada. In my previous career I was a chef manager & then studied to become a Member of HCIMA. This diverse range of B&Bs vary from simple home stay accommodations, basement guest bedrooms, to the high end of traditional B&B homes. The associations help to communicate the concerns and needs of the B&B industry to various provincial and municipality government bodies. The associations other main tasks are the marketing of the members B&Bs. Minimum requirements are needed to become a member with an inspection once every two years. "

Driving Directions: From Airport: take Barlow Trail North, turn left on Airport Trail for Deerfoot & Queen Elizabeth highway #2. Head south [for city centre] on Deerfoot, take turn off to Memorial Drive westbound. Take the exit from Memorial Drive for 4 Ave S. & City Centre which is an overpass. From 4th Ave S.E., turn left onto 1st St. SE, which becomes McLeod Trail South. Turn right onto 25 Avenue and we are a block & a half after the bridge on the right side
