"Cherokee Lodge Bed and Breakfast Inn on Coronado Island, in theSan Diego Bay, California The Cherokee Lodge is located one block from downtown Coronado near numerous charming bistros and restaurants, and just four blocks from the beach and the historic Hotel Del Coronado. History In 1896 two houses of unknown vintage were barged across San Diego Bay to Coronado Island and joined together with additional structure for the purpose of operating a public lodging house. This establishment began operation as The Cherokee Lodge in 1906 and has 12 bedrooms plus common areas. The Cherokee Lodge derives its name from the Cherokee Roses that bordered the property at the turn of the century. Local Information The Cherokee Lodge is located just one short block from the center of downtown Coronado and only four blocks from one of the finest beaches in southern California. Driving Directions: cross the San Diego/Coronado bay bridge, go to the first taffic signal, this is Orange Ave., the main street through the Island. Turn left onto Orange, go down to 9th St. and turn right. Just a short block you will come to a stop sign, this is D Ave.Turn left onto D. Come down almost to 10th St. we are on the right side, the second building from the corner of 10th and D. There is a blue/gray condo on the corner, and the Lodge is right before that, you will see the rose gardens in the front.
