A haven for artists and those who love tropical gardens Luxury at an affordable price. Wake to the sound of rain forest birds in our spacious home on the Big Island of Hawaii. The three-acre yard includes hundreds of orchids growing on native Ohia trees, bamboo, palm, macadamia nut, coffee and many fruit trees. These include bananas, avocados, citrus, star fruit, Surinam cherry and numerous other exotic tropical fruits (and of course pineapples!). Breakfast includes local and home grown fruit, cereal (including our own granola recipe), homemade muffins, Hawaiian honey and jam, juice, tea and coffee. We feature local Puna coffee. Macadamia nuts from our orchard are available. Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate you. With vaulted ceilings and plenty of windows the space is bright and airy. The house is newly renovated and decorated with high quality art, local as well as other art we have collected over the years. We have fresh orchids in the common area as well as in the guest rooms. Each room has a satellite TV and DVD player. The common area features a large living room with game table and lots of games, a take-a-book leave-a-book library, DVD library and a phone. There is a screened-in balcony and a breakfast nook which overlooks the front yard. Kitchenette and washer/dryer are available for guest use. We have umbrellas and beach equipment. In addition there is an iron and ironing board, sewing and first aid kits. High speed wireless Internet connection available. A daily paper and tourist information is available to guests. We keep a bulletin board listing Big Island events in the common area. These include concerts, art openings, movies, plays, classes, movies, parades, hula, food fairs, craft sales and farmers markets, as well as other activities our guests may be interested in. We will be happy to help plan your itinerary. On the lower level we have a workshop and studio space for guest use. Art supplies, equipment, and classes are available. |
