Nestled on 14 acres within the confines of Mattheissen State Park, the Brightwood Inn is the perfect place for a peaceful, luxurious and romantic getaway. Hike the trails and canyons of Starved Rock State park or bike along the historic I&M canal just two miles away.

Local Area Attractions: Guests can rent a horse at the Starved Rock Stables and ride the State Park trails. The Illinois & Michigan Canal offers miles of hiking and biking trails. Many golf courses are located near the Inn and we will be happy to reserve a tee time for you.Water sports such as rafting, canoeing, fishing and boating are available on the Illinois, Vermillion and Fox Rivers. During the winter months, Matthiessen Park rents cross-country skis and has miles of skiing trails. You can enjoy the many activities the parks sponsor almost every weekend or shop for antiques along the countryside or in the nearby towns. Naturalists will enjoy the many species of flora and fauna both on our 14 acres of land and in the nearby parks.
