Built in 1894, the Kendall Hotel was once an infamous Victorian Firehouse known as Engine 7. This city landmark has been restored in a manner befitting its heroic past. In 2002, the Kendall Hotel was transformed into a hip boutique hotel in the heart of Kendall Square. Cambridge's only historic boutique hotel, the Kendall is located next door to MIT and moments away from downtown Boston. The original Victorian firehouse is home to the hotel's restaurant and is full of firehouse memorabilia. Eleven of the hotel's guest rooms are also located here in what was once the firemen's dormitory. A newly constructed seven-story tower houses meeting space and additional guest rooms. In addition to firehouse artifacts, the Kendall is furnished with handmade quilts, antiques, and reproduction furnishings. The Kendall Hotel is proud to be the only Cambridge hotel selected to be a member of Historic Hotels of America. The selection criteria of the Historic Hotels of America ensure a hotel has faithfully maintained its historic architecture and ambiance. The Kendall is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Kendall Hotel at the Engine 7 firehouse is the first and only Historic Hotel in Cambridge, MA. We are proud to belong to Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Kendall Hotel's location makes it the perfect spot from which to explore the area or conduct business in either Boston or Cambridge. With both on site parking and a bus stop just steps away, you can walk, take the T, drive, or hail a cab to many of the area's most popular attractions. The entire hotel, including our guest rooms, meeting space, and the Black Sheep Restaurant & Bar, is designated a non-smoking environment. |
