"1888 Wensel House, a restored Natchez Victorian town house, is simply and attractively furnished with antiques. Perfect Location: Our location in the heart of the historic area is perfect for walking the town and its historic neighborhoods. We are across from tour headquarters, shopping, dining, trolley stop, and carriage rides. The bluff overlooking the river and several tour houses are less than two blocks away. Great Value: Moderate rates coupled with complimentary food and drink make 1888 Wensel House a great value. Breakfasts are g enerous and freshly prepared. Knowledgeable Staff: Ron and Mimi work at the local historic preservation organization, the Historic Natchez Foundation. Ron is the executive director and Mimi is the director of program services. They have written articles and books on the history, architecture, and decorative arts of Natchez and its modern preservation efforts. Ron appeared on the Natchez segments of the A&E television productions of America's Castles and Bob Vila's Historic Homes of America . He lectures on Natchez and its history. The Parlor: Guests have full use of the antique - filled parlor and dining room, where they enjoy classical music, morning papers, fresh fruit, and drinks available 24 hours a day. Outstanding Victorian plasterwork adorns the ceilings of both rooms. A generous plantation breakfast is served in the dining room. Guest Review: -- "Just wanted to say thanks for a delightful stay this week. The breakfast was superb and the location of the house to the historical part of town was so handy, we could walk everywhere we wanted to. Your hospitality was very generous. We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and we mark you right up there with the best of them. Also, it was a bargain for the price of the stay. It was also inviting for a return trip in the near future. Once again, thanks for a great time and an interesting visit to as wonderful a town as Natchez." -- The Stelly's, 8/9/02" |
