The Beard-Morgan House was built in 1830 by Adna Treat, one of Fayettville's earliest mill owners. The house was purchased by Beach Beard in 1854 for his son, a paper mill owner and village President for two terms. While occupied by Henry L. Beard, the size of the house tripled. He added another parlor, two bedrooms and the servants quarters. The house remained in the Beard family until 1988. It is an excellent example of Italianate architecture featuring curved walls in four of of the major rooms. The current owners, Bruce and Mary Coleman filled their home with comfotable antiques. For example, the TV room features the mission oak style intoduced by the Stickley furniture makers of Fayeteville. The house is located in the historic district of Fayetteville, offers walking access to shopping, dining and other historic homes including; Grover Cleveland's childhood home and the home of suffragette Matilda Gage. Fayetteville is also home to the Erie Canal Park and Green Lakes State Park. Full breakfast is served daily featuring Eggs Benedict, Baked Apple Pancake and fresh fruit with yogurt dressing. Four bedrooms with private baths are available. |
