" The Mill House Inn, ""Once Upon a Time a Sawmill."" Built in the early 4O's and known as McVeigh's Sawmill which operated for about 10 years, then was abandoned until 1970 when it was converted to the inn. There is a warm, comfortable and friendly feeling; with exposed original beams and some wood paneled walls; the antique furnishings add to the eloquence. A common area focused around a large stucco fireplace adds to the ambience on those chilly fall days and winter nights. Breakfast and afternoon tea are served in the dining room or on the patio weather permitting. Located in the Berkshire Hills between Williamstown and Lenox, it affords a year round getaway. Summer months offer the cultural side of the Berkshires with Tanglewood, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Shakespeare and Co., Jacob's Pillow and The Hancock Shaker Village, all within a short drive. There is a swimming pool in a garden setting and paths for strolling on the grounds. Wintertime there is Downhill and X-C skiing 5 minutes away at Jiminy Peak and Brodie Mt. There is also the Fall Foliage, when the wonderful hardwoods show their brilliant colors. Hiking can be done from the inn or Mt. Greylock and there is nearby Golf and Tennis. " |
