Lodging at the Heartland consists of three suites in a secluded log cabin located on a wooded hillside at the north edge of the 100+ acres of the resort. Recreation, relaxation, and romance abound at the Heartland! Heartland Country Resort is an upscale dude ranch. Its recreation includes horseback riding on the wooded trails year round, taking an English or western lesson or just riding a horse in one of the arenas, shooting billiards on the pool table, helping with the feeding or grooming of the horses and other farm animals, playing one of the lawn games outside or one of the board or card games inside. For those who want adventure, we trailer our horses to Mohican State Forest for a full day of riding. Relaxation at the Heartland can include curling up with a good book in a cozy chair in front of a warm fire, having a relaxing massage, listening to soothing music, enjoying a Jacuzzi bath, sitting on the porch listening to the birds sing, or lounging on the spacious deck in the quiet country. The Heartland exudes romance with its natural surroundings, its log cabin with cathedral ceilings and log beams, its fireplaces, its Jacuzzis, its secluded setting, its brilliant stars at night, its cozy swings on the porches, its candlelit meals, its scenic views, and its beautiful horses. The Heartland is located about an hour northeast of Columbus, OH, only a few miles from I-71. The address is Fredericktown, but the closest town is Chesterville. It is a farm setting on a quiet country road. Area attractions include Amish country, Malabar Farm, Mohican State Park, Mt. Gilead State Park, Kingwood Garden Center, Mid-Ohio Raceway, Snow Trails Ski Resort, Clear Fork Ski Resort, Knox Lake, Pebble Creek Golf Course, Pine Lakes Golf Course, antique shops, canoe liveries, and quaint little towns like Mt. Vernon and Sunbury. We welcome both children and pets, although some restrictions apply. We provide stalls for those who would like to bring their own horses. We offer a Horse Lovers Camp for youth at certain times in the summer. We customize experiences for large and small groups. Recently, we were named the 2003 Best Children Friendly Inn.
