Map of Waterbury

The Grunberg Haus ("Green Mountain House" in German) is a Vermont Bed and Breakfast in an informal and rustic Austrian chalet. It's an intimate Vermont mountainside lodge brimming with country charm where guests enjoy romance and relaxation. Treasure a wonderful night's sleep in a comfortable bed and wake to savor the smell of freshly baked breads and muffins. Wander along the trails through the surrounding maple and pine forest, and then luxuriate in front of a toasty, crackling fire. Life here in the mountains is quiet and soothing. The inn has one first-floor guest room, eight second-floor rooms, and two third-floor suites that are furnished with country antiques, comforters and quilts. The second floor rooms open to a balcony that surrounds the inn and provides a relaxing view. The third floor suites have their own private balconies. The first floor room also has a small deck. The inn is open year around and the cabins are open from late May to the end of October. We are located in the Green Mountains of north central Vermont, close to the state's highest peak (Mt Mansfield) and third highest (Camel's Hump). We are near the resorts of Stowe and Sugarbush. Stowe is about 13 miles north of us and Sugarbush is about 12 miles south. Mad River Glen and Bolton Valley ski areas are also close by. And we're near the state capital of Montpelier - it's about a 15 minute drive. Burlington and Lake Champlain are close too - about a half hour drive. We are very near Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory (just a few minutes away), Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Vermont Teddy Bear, Cabot Cheese outlet, and Lake Champlain Chocolates. The University of Vermont (UVM), Champlain College, Saint Michael's, Norwich University, and Goddard College are close too. Despite being near all these activities, we're in the quiet countryside only four miles from Waterbury and five miles from Interstate 89. Most everything you would want to see or do in Vermont is conveniently located nearby.
