This grand old 6,800 sq. ft. home, amid gorgeous perennial gardens, offers the Island visitor peaceful, beautifully furnished accommodations. The rooms are spacious and quiet, and have comfortable sitting areas for reading and relaxing and some distant views of the Chincoteague Bay. Romantic and private the Channel Bass Inn has no two guestrooms that share a common wall. That, together with the exceptional soundproofing, ensures a good night’s rest for all our guests. When the weather is cool, a pellet stove burns brightly in the main fireplace – a cozy place to enjoy a glass of wine with other guests. There’s a TV in the sitting room, if you want to keep up with the outside world. Otherwise, choose a book from our ample selection – if you don’t get to finish it, there’s a good chance we’ll let you take it home with you. Breakfast and afternoon tea are often served on a side porch overlooking the Japanese gardens and the pond. The trickle of the fountain provides a soothing background sound – the occasional splash is the ducks jumping in for their refreshing morning dip! A wonderful place to come and observe the local wildlife, including the famous wild ponies.

Breakfast: It could be crab quiche and/or cheese and onion quiche, or world-famous eggs and croissants, or a delicious chile cheese egg bake, or perhaps those marvellous crepe-like blueberry pancakes, with sausages. Our smoked salmon and bagels breakfast is popular

Driving Directions: Take Route 175 East from Route 13 to Chincoteague Island. Take a left at the lights onto Main Street. Travel approximately 10 seconds and take a right turn onto Church Street (3rd street on right). Channel Bass Inn is on immediate right. You may park on the street right in front of the building.

Local Area Attractions: Walking, bicycling, kayaking and canoeing are favorite activities. For a faster pace, jet-skis and motorboats are available and young people will enjoy playing miniature golf or bouncing in the bumper boats. Knowledgeable captains will take you out on a nature cruise, and fishing boats are available for charter. After a day in the Refuge, on the beach, or on the water, one can browse for antiques and gifts or enjoy a meal at one of Chincoteague’s fine restaurants.
