Barclay Cottage Bed and Breakfast  

"Built in 1895, Barclay Cottage is one of two remaining Victorian cottages in Virginia Beach. It has served as a lodging facility since Lillian Barclay began hosting summer visitors in 1917. Although totally modernized in 1990 and updated again in 2003, not much has changed in the old house. Folks still come to go to the beach, and sit on the porch to watch the world go by. However, now they can check their e-mail anywhere on the property using the inn's WIFI service! And, there is much more to do all year round in Virginia Beach than when Miss Barclay began renting rooms.

Fresh beach towels are provided daily, and guests may borrow beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and boogie boards so they only have to remember to bring a bathing suit and flip flops. Complimentary snacks and hot or cold beverages are available anytime of day in the guest pantry, and the guest telephone has free local and long distance calling.

The house is furnished with antiques and comfortable reproductions, and is filled with family heirlooms including hand made quilts and old dolls and toys. High quality linens and pillow top beds assure a restful night's sleep, and guests are pampered by the thick towels, Turkish robes, and hypoallergenic upscale toiletries. "

Driving Directions: Interstate 64 to Interstate 264 East. 12 miles on I-264, freeway ends and road becomes 21st Street - a 4 lane one way residential street. Take 5th right onto Arctic Avenue. Drive 5 blocks south and see Barclay Cottage on SW corner of Arctic Avenue and 16th Street. Cross over 16th Street on Arctic and turn right into parking lot.
