"The Bright Morning Inn simplicity with a touch of elegance Welcome Simple, elegant and comfortable, the historic Bright Morning Inn Bed and Breakfast in Davis, WV is your gateway to some of the most unspoiled scenic areas in West Virginia: Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley, Dolly Sods, Otter Creek, Spruce Knob, and Seneca Rocks. With private baths in every room, and full country breakfasts daily, we welcome families, small children and even well behaved pets! At night, restaurants and shops within walking distance offer food and entertainment. In the morning, let us provide you with guidebooks, maps and personalized trip planning. Great Food The Bright Morning Inn's restaurant (the Flying Pigs Cafe) serves meals using fresh ingredients and local foods in season -- like wild blueberries, WV peaches and even ramps. Our restaurant is a warm, relaxing place where the menus -- like Canaan Valley's famous weather -- change daily. Check out our newest offering -- tender waffles with homemade fruit sauces -- or our locally famous (and vegetarian) breakfast burrito! If you sleep late, it's okay -- breakfast is served all morning long! August Happenings The word this month is blueberries -- gobs of juicy ones everywhere, atop Dolly Sods, behind town on Camp 70 Road and off Canaan Loop Road. We've picked gallons for the restaurant -- and bought more from local mountain man Allan Heist -- and haven't made a dent! Raspberries and blackberries are coming soon and cranberries later in the month, so bring your buckets and head for the hills! Also, on August 9th we're having an open house for Doc's Guest House, the restored Victorian behind the inn that used to house the town doctor and his family. It's a quiet and private space for groups, families and gatherings. Check out the floorplans and photos elsewhere on this site.br/> About the Area Less than a mile from Blackwater Falls State Park, the Inn is only nine miles from Canaan Valley, Timberline and White Grass ski resorts and well-located for day trips to nearby wilderness areas. The 800,000 acres of Monongahela National Forest that surround the inn are a naturalist's dream. The Potomac Highland region's high altitude and scenic beauty are a Mecca for hiking, mountain biking, whitewater sports, cross country and downhill skiing, rock climbing, caving, hunting and trout fishing. Winter finds the area blanketed with 150-200 inches of natural snowfall annually. And our cool summers (2001 high temperature was only 84!) are a welcome relief from sweltering cities. Bring your own equipment, or let us introduce you to local outfitters for guidance, trip planning and rentals."
