Looking for a great place for a get-away? Do you want places to go and things to see? Or do you just want to relax? The Gillum House is where you want to be. There is a great front porch with a comfortable glider and lots of books to choose from. Stroll on the rail-trail or bike it. For more activities, just tell Host Kathleen Panek your interests and she will give clear directions for your personal tour. Concierge service without the high price. Awaken to the aroma of baking each morning of your stay as Kathleen makes muffins, adapted to be very low fat or fat-free (sugar-free available) for a healthy, delicious breakfast. Enjoy a different mouth-watering entree each morning. Every attempt is made to accommodate special diet requirements. Some of the Accommodated Diets are: Diabetic; Lactose Intolerant; Vegetarian; Vegan; and no Gluten. The FULL breakfast is served at the time you specify in the morning (between the hours of 4:00 AM and 10 AM). The Gillum House Bed & Breakfast has over 100 teas currently available - or coffee from country of your choice fresh-roasted the night before and ground fresh each morning. Guestrooms are on the second floor. The private bath in the Gillum Room features a claw-foot bathtub and a 48" shower; the bath shared by the other 2 rooms features a 60 inch shower. Robes are found in the closet in each room. The Harris Room is feather/down-free for guests with allergies to down/feathers. The Harris Room can be rented as a private detached bath for the private bath rate (Rosi's would then not be rented). All books on the second floor are for the enjoyment of our guests who are invited to take their choices with them, compliments of your host, please "steal" them. Dolls made by Margaret Panek are on display in the dining room. Visit 2-Wheel Classics - the art gallery in the Library. The Gillum House is a smoke-free facility but we have a crystal ashtray on the porch for our guests who smoke. Children are welcomed. Due to allergies of the host, pets are not accepted. Dinner, unless booking a Gillum House Bed & Breakfast package that includes dinner, is available at Jimmy's Diner, the restaurant version of ""CHEERS"" or one of many others in the area - see the restaurant page on our web site. Jimmy's is located 1 mile north of the Gillum House. The Gillum House is ""Green"". Your comfort and pleasure of your stay will be ensured as we also protect those things that make West Virginia so Wild and Wonderful. The Gillum House is located 50 feet from the West Fork River Rail Trail, 16+ miles along the scenic winding West Fork River from Shinnston to Fairmont, for bicycles, hikers, and equestrians. Massage appointments, bicycle and helmet use, or stable facilities can be arranged. Off-street cement pad parking for motorcycles and overnight stabling available for horses traveling with their people. " |

Directions: From I-79 Exit # 124 (Jerry Dove Drive), turn west at top of ramp, then right onto WV Rt 707. At stop sign, turn left onto WV Rt 131. Drive to traffic light and turn right. Drive 2 blocks and turn left onto Walnut Street. First house on left. Park in front of the house please. |
