Elmington House Bed & Breakfast is a short walk from the Newport, Rhode Island Visitors Center, Bowen's or Bannister's wharfs, The Newport Art Museum and many charming local shops and restaurants. Public transportation is available at the Visitors Center to take you to The Breakers, The Marble House, Rough Point or one of the many other historic sites in and around Newport. Driving Directions: From New York and Connecticut
Take I-95 north to exit 3 in Rhode Island for Route 138 east. Stay on Route 138 east, following the blue signs for the Newport Bridge. This will take you over the Jamestown Verrazano Bridge and then The Newport Pell Bridge (toll $2.00), about 45 minuets from I-95. Take the first exit off the Newport Bridge (Scenic Newport). Take a right at the bottom of the ramp. At the first stop light turn right onto Van Zandt Ave. and continue until you get to the water (three blocks). This street is Washington Street. Turn left onto Washington Street and continue 8 blocks. Elmington house will be on your left at the corner of Washington Street and Elm Street, 49 Washington Street. Turn into the curved drive and park on the brick pull off, with the car front facing the fence with stars cut out of it.
