Built as a single family home, 123 Spring Street is in the center of a district known as Historic Hill. The house was divided into apartments for Navy families when Newport was a booming Navy town and rooms were rented by the night to dockhands, merchant marines and passing fishermen. We are located a few doors down from the restored Trinity Church and are surrounded by buildings from the 1800's that have remained largely unchanged for the past 150 years.

Once at the Pilgrim House Inn Bed and Breakfast, leave your car parked! Sightseeing shuttles are plentiful and close by, as are launches that carry music lovers to festivals at Fort Adams. The shops and restaurants that line the harbor are one block away. The beginning of Mansion Row on Bellevue Avenue is just five minutes by foot and five minutes from that is the beginning of Cliffwalk, which offers a perfect spot to watch surfers at play on Second Beach and a millionaire's view of the ocean.

We feel the best view of Newport, RI though, is from our third story deck that looks out on the harbor and the mouth of Narragansett Bay. You can sit and take in Newport beginning at breakfast, when we serve homemade muffins, juice and gourmet coffee, until the sun slips behind Jamestown Island.

Driving Directions: From New York, Connecticut & New Jersey: I-95 North to Route 138 East (R.I. exit 3). Follow Route 138 East to Jamestown Bridge and on to the Pell/Newport Bridge. Take the first exit once over the Pell/Newport Bridge to scenic Newport. Follow Connell Street to Farewell Street to Thames Street. Take a left on Mill Street to Spring Street. Left on Spring Street past Trinity Church and home to The Pilgrim House Inn.

From Boston, Vermont & New Hampshire: Route 128 South to Route 24 South to Route 114 South. Follow Broadway to Thames Street. Left on Thames Street. Take a left on Mill Street to Spring Street past Trinity Church and home to The Pilgrim House Inn.
