Driving
Directions: Directions into Charleston on I-26:
I-26 dead-ends into downtown Charleston. You will see a sign overhead that says "I-26 Ends One Mile." Go to the far left lane and take the Meeting Street Visitors Center exit at the end of I-26. Take a right at the traffic light onto Meeting Street. You will go through several signal lights. You will pass the visitors center on the right and the Charleston Museum on the left with the Hunley submarine replica on the corner. Stay in the left lane. The second street on the left past the museum, directly across from the Embassy Suites hotel (looks like a castle) is Charlotte Street - turn left. Go straight through the first intersection (Elizabeth St) to the middle of the second block, between the two large speed bumps (go slow !!) We are on the left, # 32 behind the brick and iron fence.
Directions into Charleston from US Highway 17 North:
Cross the Ashley River Bridge. As you cross the bridge, move to the far right lane and take the exit for Lockwood Drive South. Immediately move to the far left lane. At the first signal light make a left onto Calhoun Street. You will go through several signal lights to the intersection of Meeting Street at the far end of a large park with a fountain on your left. Stay in the left lane, and turn left onto Meeting Street. Get in your right lane and turn right at the second street, which is Charlotte Street. Go straight through the first intersection (Elizabeth St) to the middle of the second block, between the two large speed bumps (go slow ! !) We are on the left, # 32 behind the brick and iron fence.
Directions into Charleston from US Highway 17 South:
You will cross the new Arthur Ravenel Jr. Suspension Bridge. Stay in the right lane as you descend and take the first downtown exit for East Bay Street. Take a left at the light at the bottom of the ramp onto East Bay. One block past the third traffic light, about a half a mile, turn right onto Charlotte Street. Go straight through the first intersection (Alexander St) to the middle of the second block, between the two large speed bumps (go slow !!) We are on the right, # 32 behind the brick and iron fence. |
