Farmers Guest House  

The Farmers' Guest House in Galena, Illinois was built in 1867 and operated as a bakery, store and hotel. This handsome Italianate-style building was a favorite overnight stop for area farmers bringing goods to market, as well as a gathering place for local folk. This structure remains one of the Midwest's premier examples of 19th-century commercial vernacular architecture. Kathie and Jess Farlow welcome you to experience the delight, charm and romance of a by-gone era along with the conveniences of today. Relax in one of our many sitting areas or soak in our backyard hot tub. We pay attention to the details, so you can enjoy your stay and make our house your home. 9 guest rooms, each with private baths, as well as a separate guest cottage, invite you into the warmth and comfort that is Farmers' Guest House.
Wine and cheese, as well as stories and conversation, are offered at "Wine Time" - 6:00 pm each evening.

Relax in the living room where there is an extensive DVD movie selection, or enjoy a music choice, be it jazz or classical, there is something for everyone in our collection. Lot's of jazz portraits and posters compliment family and friends photos. A baby grand piano is available if you might feel inclined to offer up a tune.

Hang out and read or play board games from the selection offered in Janet's Heritage Library, which is tastefully decorated in an Americana theme. Also stop by "The Littlest Gift Shop" located here at the inn offering round-the-clock shopping for unique gift items. Whether winter or summer, soak in our outdoor hot tub and surround yourself with lovely flowers or, perhaps, delicate snowflakes. Or just sit and enjoy in one of our various patio areas.
