This cosmopolitan little hotel in a refurbished 19th-century commercial building on the fringe of Old City has its own brand of urban charm. The owner is a well-regarded Italian-born restaurateur, and also runs Panorama, the downstairs eatery and wine bar. Accommodations are comfortable and rather European, with Chippendale-style furniture, floral wallpaper, and queen beds; four deluxe rooms have a whirlpool bath and fireplace with windows overlooking the Delaware River. Directions: Traveling I-95 North (from Delaware, Walt Whitman Bridge, or Philadelphia Int'l Airport):
Follow I-95 North (past the airport and sports stadiums) until you see signs for exit #20 (Washington Ave/Columbus Blvd.). Take exit #20. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Columbus Blvd (formerly Delaware Avenue). Remain in the left lane until you reach Dock Street. Make a left onto Dock Street, and then take the first right onto Front Street. Stay on Front Street until just past Market Street. The hotel is on the left on Front Street.
