The Royal Barracks is a renowned Victorian building located in the quiet residential section of the historic French Quarter. We're within a few blocks of 24-hour restaurants, bars and delicatessens. And,. because this area was designed for walkers, you're just minutes from any place in the Quarter. Neighborhood banks, hair salons and grocers are readily available. Leave your car at home - you won't need it here. Our avid return customers (people often book us a year in advance) consider their accommodations here as their own secluded private hideaway. That's the way we planned it. We take care of the housekeeping, of course, but beyond that, your room is privately yours. You have access to the street through a security gate for which you have your own key. No doorkeeper, no lobby, no hassle... We're here if needed, but most of our guests seem to find their way around amazingly fast. All rooms open onto our high-walled, private courtyard that we maintain just for our guests' pleasure. The courtyard, with its hot tub and tropical plants, is a wonderful place to relax or meet with friends. We've tried to make our rooms as charming and comfortable as we would want ourselves. They all have air conditioning and heating, with ceiling fans, too, for your further comfort. Queen size beds are standard, as are individual baths. Cable TV and telephones are a few of the other amenities. Each room is individually decorated with antique furniture and art befitting a gracious New Orleans home. In this modern age, it dismays us to see hotel guests regarded as faceless numbers. It is a trend we fight against in the French Quarter, and especially here at the Royal Barracks. We go to considerable lengths to be sure everyone who stays here is treated as an honored guest; that's southern hospitality.
