The Avery Bed and Breakfast Guest House, located just 2 blocks from downtown main street in historic Galena, Illinois, has four lovely and comfortable guest rooms with private baths decorated in period decor, where sleep comes easy on queen size beds. The Avery Bed and Breakfast also offers Special Occasion Packages for your special events such as anniversaries, birthdays, or Valentines Day.

Now a gracious Bed & Breakfast, the Avery House, a pre-civil war home was built in 1848 and later became the home of a prominent Galena citizen, Major George Avery and his family from 1881 until 1923. During his time in Galena, Illinois, Major Avery founded several Galena businesses and served as the Galena postmaster for eight years.

The Avery House is a very warm and comfortable B & B done in period decor, with a large sunny dining room and bay window overlooking the Galena River Valley. A panoramic view is available from our large porch and swing. At this time of the year, you'll also enjoy our lovely flowers on the grounds while relaxing in our gazebo.

The spacious parlor of our Bed & Breakfast provides a lovely setting for relaxing, reading, or conversation. We also have a very comfortable guest floor sitting room, a place to relax and unwind using the TV/VCR and game table or for just good conversation with other guests.
