This six genertion Four Square home is on three acres in a friendly working farm community. Much of the home's original walnut wordwork remains and there are many original furnishings as well Coming to this home stay is very much as if you were staying at Grandma's house. You will be tempted with the aroma of fresh baked goods, such as sourdough pancakes, often completed with the taste of home canned fruit, and many other delightful foods which are prepared for your enjoyment. You will know that you have chosen the right country inn for your time away....................In honor of your adulthood, Grandma pulls out beautiful place settings of antique dishes and lovingly places them on lace laden tables. Your breakfast is served by candlelight , often fireside on the cheerful sunporch. Larger numbers of guests are served in the formal dining room around the antique threshing table of Aunt Bertha...... Grandpa has prepared for you what is to be one of the most delightful moments of your entire stay. Your will find that his home made ice cream, a comp. bedtime snack, will be a taste long remembered. This treat can bring back many memories of yester- year..... The Inn has two 2nd floor guest rooms. The Four Seasons Room has the modified four poster bed in which Alice was born. Many other family items of the past serve to the completion of the room ..... Grandmother's room has the walnut wardrobe which was created for this room. There is a sleigh, high button shoes, hand made dolls and much , much , more to remind you of grandma. Both 2nd floor rooms share a bath. Enjoy the luxury of the marble tub........ Handmade quilts, wedding gifts to Alice's parents, have been restored and are displayed in the up stairs hall way. The Bible which her father's family brought from Ireland when they immigrated to the United States in 1905, remains on the hall table ........... On the main floor is Grandpa's Getaway, This room has a private bath. A collection of Grandpa's toys adorn the walls . The bedroom suite in this room was purchased just prior to her parents marriage in Jan. of 1930. Each room has a very comfortable quilted queen bed, ceiling fan and t. v............ Jim loves to cook and does most of the preparation of the meals. Alice likes to fill in where needed and prepares the tables. Accommodations are made for special dietary needs where necessary. The final menu is planned after the guest's arrival. We enjoy doing special moments for a special occasion if we are aware of this prior to your visit........... Guests are free to use the majority of the main floor . They may choose to read, play the piano or organ, compete at a game of chess , stroll the property , enjoy the flower beds , spend some time in the lawn swing and have many other relaxing moments. A very beautiful view of the bountiful croplands surrounds this peaceful setting. It is so quiet out here. Just relax , enjoy, listen to the song of the birds, watch the beautiful sunset and JUST BE YOU. Remember, "a day in the country ......is worth a month in town". |
