Driving Directions: The fastest way from points south (Boston Portland) is to take Interstate 95 North to Augusta, and get off at exit 113. Follow Route 3 East to Belfast (about 1 hour from Augusta). Continue straight at the Rt. 1 intersection into the downtown area. Turn right onto Church Street at the 5-way intersection (Post Office is on your right, Key Bank on left). Follow Church Street for 3 blocks. The Alden House is on your left, turn left onto Park Street for our parking area. If you come up Rt. 1, when you get to the Belfast area follow the signs to Downtown Water Front. This will be a right turn off Route 1 coming from the south. Continue about 1 mile to the flashing light and turn left on to Church Street. Continue about 1/4 mile and The Alden House will be on your right. Turn right on to Park Street for the parking area. If you are comming from the North (Acadia or Bangor) follow Route 1 south until you get to Belfast. Take the first exit after you go over the high bridge in Belfast. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp. As you go down the hill into town the road makes a "Y". Bear right on to Church Street. Follow this street through two stop signs and then for 3 blocks. The Alden House will be on your left. Turn left down Park Street just past the Inn for our parking lot.

Local Area Attractions: View our magnificent sunrises and sunsets just steps away from the inn on gorgeous, glistening, Penobscot Bay! USA Today has rated Belfast as one of the country's top five "culturally cool" small towns. Belfast is located in mid-coast Maine overlooking Penobscot Bay far from the madding crowds of Camden and Bar Harbor, but perfectly situated between the two for day trips. The town has changed from its earlier shipbuilding and industrial identity into a cultural mecca. In historic brick buildings you will find art galleries, antique shops, book stores and restaurants. The area offers year-round theatre, state parks, a train excursion, bay cruises, golf, skiing, nearby sand beaches, and more! The Alden House is located in the heart of the historic district along with many homes which were built before the Civil War. The Belfast Historic Walking Tour invites you to saunter a mile amid these splendid period homes. Within minutes you can walk to the heart of downtown Belfast or to the waterfront dotted with sailboats and lobster boats. Come and experience an affordable, authentic, New England coastal community!
