The White Rabbit Inn is a small eight room bed and breakfast located in the lovely little village of Lakeside, Michigan, only 90 minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago, or less than 3-1/2 hours from Detroit or Indianapolis. We are surrounded by sophisticated antique stores, exquisite art galleries, highly-acclaimed gourmet restaurants and only a short drive from nearby award winning Michigan wineries like Round Barn Winery, St. Julian, Domaine Berrien Cellars and Tabor Hill. Best of all, our Inn is only a few blocks or a brief, ten minute walk from the nearest public beach access. And less than five miles away, rests majestic Warren Dunes State Park with its sugar sand beaches, wooded trails and of course Lake Michigan. For fans of the fine arts, nearby Three Oaks, MI is home to both the Vickers Film Theatre as well as the Acorn Performing Arts Theater. You will find plenty to do year-round in Harbor Country. For 2006, we will be closed from Sunday, November 26 thru Tuesday, December 26. We will re-open on Wednesday, December 27. This property was once a little hotel. The traces of the inn's previous life still live on because each room has its own private, ground-level entrance. Each of our six rooms has a whirlpool bath, two have gas fireplaces, and all are uniquely decorated with rustic furniture. Some rooms have birch or willow beds, and all have private baths. All rooms except the Woodview, have a mini refrigerator. Each of our two knotty pine cabins offer the same rich decor, along with a kitchen, a wood-burning stove and a private outdoor hot tub/spa. All rooms plus Bill's Cabin have TV/VCRs and queen-sized beds and except for our Woodview rooms, feature both TV/VCR's and DVD players. Dusty's Cabin also has a TV/VCR/DVD player and offers a king-sized bed. Rates include breakfast for two adults each morning. All of our rooms and cabins also offer individual heat, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and clock radios. Our specialty is the romantic getaway. "We have a 100% success rate when it comes to popping the ol' question," according to A.J. Many of our guests celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or spend their honeymoons at the White Rabbit. Breakfast is served in the Lodge, an airy building with large picture windows over looking the woods. Enjoy our "hearty" continental buffet while watching for deer, colorful wild birds or our favorite pair of chipmunks. Guests are welcome in the Lodge at any time to catch up on some reading, pick out a favorite movie, or enjoy a late night snack. Since you are here to relax, there are no phones in the rooms. Guests are welcome to use the courtesy phone in the Lodge. We are animal lovers and own five friendly Newfoundland dogs; Grayse, Skyler, Brinklee, Preslee and Tenlee. They live in our home but enjoy meeting guests by invitation only. We are members of the Professional Association of Innkeepers International, the Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce, Michigan's Lake to Lake Bed and Breakfast Association, and the Southwestern Michigan Tourist Council.
