The Southern Mansion  

The Southern Mansion is the largest and most opulent Cape May mansion built circa 1860. The Mansion is set on one and a half acres of award winning gardens, centrally located in the historic district, within a 5 minute walk to the best beaches, shops and restaurants.

In her youth, Cape May was known as "Up North, Down South" due to her status as a favorite destination for antebellum southern gentry. During this period Cape May initiated the architectural and social trends of southern cities of the mid-1800's. In 1879 a great fire swept over Cape May, taking with it many of the grand structures built during this era of southern influence. Fortunately, one mansion survived the fire, as well as ensuing years of neglect, and today has received a complete restoration. After an absence of more than a century, genuine southern hospitality and antebellum style have returned to the island of Cape May.

Cancellation Policy: We often try reschedule cancellations off-season if we can re-rent the room. We absolutely cannot reschedule on a weekend or prime season.

Driving Directions: The Garden State Parkway turns into Lafayette St, go to your 1st traffic light and turn left onto Madison St. Go one block to the 1st. traffic light and turn right onto Washington St., we are approx, 3 blocks up on your left hand side of the street.
