Driving
Directions: Arrive in the centre of Languidic (church in centre of village square). Exit that square where you see a Coiffeure on the left hand corner and a bar 'Chez Cathy' on the right - this is Rue des Fleurs. Continue straight ahead and you will pass a small church on your left and see a roundabout ahead. Go straight across the roundabout (2nd exit) and you will see a school on your left followed by a sports ground. Continue straight and you will exit the village and the views become more rural. You will soon cross a little bridge and the road will bend round sharply to the left (you will see a strange pizza place on the left hand side of this bend - with a shark's mouth as an entrance!). As you go round the bend you will then see a kitchen showroom called Cuisine Le Gal immediately on your right. Take the right hand turn at this point signposted Landevant. (This road is the 102A). Continue straight along this road (still following the signs for Landevant) you will immediately pass a group of houses on the left hand side and then the road begins to get a little bendy but continue on this road and we are the 5th turning on the left hand side - signed "Keroallic". Follow the lane as far as it will go - we are situated at the very end. Please drive in and park in the gravel courtyard.

Local Area
Attractions: The property is situated in the beautiful countryside of southern Brittany just 6 minutes drive from the typical French village of Languidic. The medieval market town of Hennebont with its typically French weekly market, bars and restaurants is just a 10 minute drive away.
We're also just a 15 min drive from the the quaint old town of Auray and Saint Goustan. Visit this picturesque and historic town, with its beautiful, quaint harbour filled with narrow, winding cobbled streets and half-timbered 15th and 16th century houses - a real step back in time. Stroll across the lovely 17th century stone bridge which spans the river and provides a splendid view of the harbour then enjoy a relaxing drink/meal in one of the many waterfront bars and restaurants.
We're also perfectly located within a 30 minute drive from the beautiful coastline of southern Brittany. Large sandy beaches and bays offer the opportunity to relax, swim, surf, sand yacht, windsurf or kite surf.
Visit the Neolithic standing stones at Carnac then spend time on Carnac-Plage, a large, gently sloping beach of fine sand and one of Brittany's most modern and lively seaside resorts it provides a good choice of amenities together with colourful cafes and restaurants serving good quality, reasonably priced food.
Take a trip to the beautiful medieval town of Vannes which is located just on the edge of the famous Gulfe de Morbihan (a sailing metropolis, also known for its oyster farms). Vannes also offers the opportunity to sample smart shops, bars, restaurants and a lovely marina where the cafe terraces are often overflowing with alfresco diners.
The port town of Lorient is very close by, again offering a lively selection of shops, bars and restaurants. During the first two weeks of August it is well worth visiting Lorient for the annual Interceltique Music Festival which takes place in the town centre and which attracts many artists/musicians from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, Spain and Brittany. The first weekend of the festival normally kicks off with a large parade of bands and dancers all in traditional costumes - it really is something special.
Quiberon and Belle Ile are beautiful areas to visit - Quiberon with it's sandy beaches and the cote sauvage and Belle Ile which was first named the “Beautiful IslandEby Greek sailors, as its names might suggest, Belle Ile is in fact one of the France’s most beautiful islands. Stunning cliffs, quaint seaside hamlets with pastel colored maritime homes, green countryside and jagged rocky coastlines, Belle Ile’s beauty has long inspired sailors, authors like Flaubert and Dumas and painters like Claude Monet and Matisse. Located off the Brittany coast and accessed by ferries leaving from Quiberon.
Morbihan generally:
The rugged Atlantic coast of the Morbihan offers fine beaches, both tourist hotspots and secluded bays. Inland, there are sleepy villages, and bustling market towns. The capital of Morbihan is Vannes, an ancient town and residence of the former Dukes of Brittany. Other famous towns include Josselin, famous for its château, La Roche Bernard, an historic and attractive town with a pretty port, Rochefort en Terre, Lizio and Malestroit, all 'cités de caractères', renowned for their history and character. The Gulf of Morbihan offers a wide range of sandy beaches, from the more renowned resort of Damgan, to more secluded, private coves. The department boasts an abundance of islands, many of which can be reached by boat from the mainland, including Belle Ile en Mer, the largest French island in the Atlantic. Morbihan's famous standing stones, spread over some 40 individual sites, are linked by the Route des Mégalithes. Carnac is the world's largest megalithic site where there are a reported 2,792 stones. The Morbihan coastline enjoys a warm micro-climate, ensuring it is a perennially popular holiday destination, which makes it a prime investment area. Vannes has as much sunshine as Toulouse (over 2,000 hours per year), relatively little rainfall and average maximum temperatures of around 22 degrees Celsius. Parts of the Morbihan are sufficiently warm to support flora normally reserved for the Mediterranean! In terms of infrastructure, Morbihan offers good access to Rennes, Nantes and Brest airports, the ports of Cherbourg, Roscoff, Le Havre and St Malo as well as a direct TGV link between Redon and Paris.
If you love oysters and all fruits de mer then Chez Jacky is the restaurant to visit. Located in Riec-sur-Belon you can combine a beautiful meal with a trip to nearby Pont-Aven renowned for its "14 mills & 15 houses" That's how this charming little Breton town is described, and although there are more than 15 houses now, you can well believe that this is how it must have seemed to the artist Gauguin when he first visited. |
