“Best Hidden B and B in the South!”
Reviewed May 11, 2011
My DH and 3 year old daughter were on our way to visit family in Nola for Mothers Day and needed a place to stay for the night. We were turned down because we had a child by 2 B and Bs in Meridian MS. I then Googled Hattiesburg and found River Ranch! What a total BLESSING!! Vicky @River Ranch was a Godsend!! She welcomed us @ the gate like a family member, then escorted us to an exquisite cabin in the woods. Our suite was beautifully decorated, the amenities 5 star, and the breakfast good and healthy. The next morning Vicky took us on a tour of the property and showed us the new baby ducks, the huge coy pond, horses, and a perfect place to skip a few rocks in the river. The only thing we regret about River Ranch is that we did not get to stay long enough!
River Ranch is truly the best hidden B and B in the South! It is perfect for a family getaway or that much needed private getaway with your Honey....,)
Thank you to Vicky @ River Ranch for making a Mothers Day weekend better than one could have imagined!

“River Ranch makes you forget the chaos that awaits you back home--truly a place for a family to rejuvenate!”

We love River Ranch so much, that we went back again in the course of one month, and this time we brought the whole family with us! River Ranch is a quiet, country rustic/modern log home that is nestled amongst pines and oaks, with a large deck overlooking the river. It is really gorgeous, and a place for the whole family, or a couple to rejuvenate and reconnect. We took our girls for their birthday this time, and rented out the tree house suite, which is the entire top level of the cabin. I must say, I was VERY impressed! I loved every detail, from the number of beds (there were four total upstairs--three in the children's room and one in master suite), and soft, comfortable magnificently outfitted beds, to the beautiful pure, organic soaps, shampoos and other bath amenities--and let's not forget the gorgeous views of the river and the morning sun coming in the upstairs loft windows, making mirrors sparkle, and white bed linens seem whiter and even more inviting. The thread count of the sheets and bed linens exceeded my expectations and I slept comfortably. The children enjoyed the koi fish, the ponies, playing on the sandy beach, and the river. We grilled out on the deck, sang happy birthday, and enjoyed being together as a family. Since there was noone else renting the place, we had the whole house to ourselves, and I cannot tell you how nice that was. After the children were in bed, we drank wine by firelog light under the stars, and enjoyed the restful quiet, just kicking back and relaxing. Here, you really can have it all. This place has not left any stone unturned nor spared any expense to make your stay comfortable and pampered. I rate River Ranch up there with some of the best 5 star rated B&B's, especially when it comes to comfort, amenities and service. And the best part is, they do not charge for extra amenities, as so many B&B's do! You will not be disappointed. Stayed April 2011, traveled with family

“Awesome, sweet , and relaxing retreat!”

We really enjoyed our stay for our 15th anniversary. I recommend booking the Penthouse Suite (Tree House) during the week as we did; we had the whole house to ourselves, this made the experience even more relaxing and enjoyable. I highly reccomend this place for your anniversary or just a family getaway. We will be returning soon. Room Tip: Stay in the Penthouse Suite (Tree House). Stayed April 2011, traveled as a couple.

“Quiet and private, yet so convenient to nearby restaurants and malls.”

The house is nicely nestled in a serene environment with lovely views from every angle. The rooms were very confortable and well decorated. The innkeeper was very friendly and informative. The secured gated entry made me feel safe and relaxed. It is the perfect place for hiking and spending time outdoors. I would definitely return to River Ranch if I am ever in the area again! “Will definately be back!”

What a wonderful place to relax and get away from it all! My husband and I wanted to get away for the night and we were so excited when we arrived at this beautiful place. The owner, Vicki, was so nice and gave us a tour of the house. She went out of her way to answer any questions and gave us alot of information about the surrounding areas. Be sure and check out Mack's on the River about a mile away. It would be worth the drive from Mobile just to eat there! We can't wait for our next getaway here. “Large rooms in newly built cabin nestled in tall pines of south Mississippi.”
Reviewed January 11, 2011
Located near Hwy 49 and Peps Point Rd, this newly built cabin is tucked away in the pines off River Rd past Macks on the River restaurant. Set about 1/2 mile off the road, behind a secured wooden gate, it has two floors. The common area opens to a large deck overlooking the Bouie river.

HIKERS & CYCLISTS: Note the proximity to the University of Southern Mississippi trailhead of the 40 mile Longleaf Trace recreational trail, recently inducted into the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's Hall of Fame.

Note: breakfast is continental (e.g. cereal, juices, muffins, etc.). Coffee maker and mini-fridge in room. Fireplace was welcome in winter but not adjustable. Bed was very soft and seemed to lean a bit on either side. Slept in the middle on second night without difficulty. WiFi available--I forgot to observe whether or not it is high-speed.

Service was cheerful, attentive, and eager to help. The custodian, Vicky, provided info as needed (i.e. check-in, security gate code, directions). Stayed January 2011, traveled solo.

“Outstanding B&B! Beautiful well appointed room and great service.”

Went there for our 30th anniversary - what a place! It is situated off the main road in the midst of the woods, and the drive-up appeal is great. When we arrived we were met by Tiffany who showed us around and made us feel welcome. Our room (Jim's room) was perfect, completely updated with everything we could ask for. You can throw a rock and hit the river (you really can - I tried!) which is picturebook perfect. There are several places to sit and relax, including a screened-in area overlooking the river and a large porch on both sides of the house. We left to get dinner in Hattiesburg, and when we arrived back, we were greeted by a small herd of deer who had made their home in the meadow. Overall a perfect place to get away for a couple or a group! Stayed October 2010, traveled as a couple.

“Perfect, but didn't stay long enough!”

What a perfect hidden jewel in MS. Every aspect of River Ranch exceeded my expectations. The property is very accessible to town and still secluded. The decor of the house and each room is lovely. Not one detail has been overlooked to make your stay more pleasant. Beautiful bedding, nice furnishings and the view of the river from the back deck was completely serene. We spent one evening playing cards and sipping wine on the Riverfront porch.

We were visiting for a girls weekend get away with old college roommates. Our only complaint -- the trip wasn't long enough. We are already planning to return. This is a great place for family gatherings or small group get togethers. We plan to share our next trip with a few more friends and we want the WHOLE house!

“Perfect place to rest and pray during a stressful time in my life.”
Reviewed October 19, 2010
I had to go on a personal/business trip to Hattiesburg during a very stressful time in my life. The River Ranch was located about 7 miles outside of Hattiesburg. Once we got thru the gate, I felt a sense of security. The room was decorated with beautiful antiques and the king size bed with quality bedding was so luxurious and comfortable. I enjoyed walking out to the river and just being in nature. I felt a sense of peace and solitude from the outside world. Much needed at that time in my life!
