The Humphrey Hughes House, nestled in the heart of Cape May's primary historic district, is one of the city抯 most authentically restored Inns. Perhaps the most spacious and gracious of them all, The Humphrey Hughes House was built to be a luxurious summer house in 1903. Until 1980, it was a private home and while today the house is filled with magnificent antiques, it still feels more like a home than a museum. The hallmarks of The Humphrey Hughes House hospitality are warmth coupled with Victorian charm and liberally seasoned with casual, yet elegant creature comforts.
Enjoy the endless sea breezes that whisper through the expansive rooms. Lounge in inviting porch rockers on the large wraparound veranda or in the glistening glass enclosed sun porch. In addition to the expected pleasures of sand and surf, enjoy historic house and museum tours, gardens, Cape May Point State Park, bird watching, bicycling, horseback riding, antiquing, fishing, shopping, tennis and nearby golf. Lorraine and Terry Schmidt have owned and operated The Humphrey Hughes House since 1987. They, along with their experienced and courteous staff, look forward to welcoming you to Cape May. |
