Built in 1804, the Wakefield Inn is located in the quiet, historic village of Wakefield Corner. Located only two hours from Boston, and one hour from Portsmouth, NH and Portland, ME; we are in the heart of New England. The Inn is the ideal base to explore and enjoy the spectacular beauty and tranquility of this unspoiled region of God's country. Enjoy the beautiful White Mountains, the Lakes Region and the seacoast of Maine, all within an hour's drive from the Inn. Relax and enjoy the immediate area visiting nearby museums, gift and antique shops, playing golf, Cross Country and Downhill skiing, driving along scenic by-ways or enjoying many other outdoor sports. The building has many unique features, the most spectacular of which is the "FLYING" spiral staircase which gracefully spirals up to the third floor with no center pole support. On the first floor is a large sitting area where guests can gather to share experiences and chat with the innkeepers. In the center of the room is a beehive fireplace to cozy up to on a cool New Hampshire night. The Inn has a wrap around front porch, which is a favorite place to sit and relax in the cool crisp mountain air. |
